JAXP 1.3Release Date: December 16, 2005
JAXP 1.3 includes updates to many of the core XML standards as well as additional functionality while maintaining compatibility with JAXP 1.2. Read an article explaining the new concepts and features introduced in JAXP 1.3.
An implementation of the JAXP 1.3 specification is included in the latest J2SE release, J2SE 5.0. Under the usual platform integrity rules, JAXP 1.3 would not be legally usable with J2SE 1.4 because J2SE 1.4 has JAXP 1.2 in it, while it could be used with J2SE 1.3 because that version has no JAXP. We recognized that this would cause significant problems and requested and were granted a variant to allow JAXP 1.3 to be used with both J2SE 1.3 and J2SE 1.4. The weeklies below have been tested with 1.3 and 1.4.2.
